i first found pleasant pops when they started selling at the dupont farmers' market, and soon discovered that they have a physical store up in the adam's morgan / u street area.  i've been hooked ever since!  the popsicle flavors are fresh and utterly delicious, plus they have a bunch of other yummy and local products in the adorable shop as well.  the perfect way to cool off during a scorching dc summer!

the three flavors below - all three of which i devoured (not ashamed) and for which i can personally vouch for their deliciousness - are the cookies and cream, strawberry ginger lemonade, and guac (avocado and lime).  so good!

tell me a little about your shop.

Roger and Brian were college roommates - they both loved paletas (mexican-style ice pops), but were unable to find any in DC.  The two decided to create their own original pops, coming up with their own recipes and using local produce and ingredients to create pops that were uniquely DC.  Pleasant Pops started with push carts in 2009 and opened the shop in 2012.

what is your philosophy when creating flavors and deciding which to make?

We listen to what our customers want and use what's in season.  we make pops two or three times per week and cycle flavors regularly, however, we have certain staples that are regularly on the menu: strawberry ginger lemonade (the biggest seller), cookies and cream, and vegan mexican chocolate are some examples of regulars.

how does your catering for weddings and events work?

We usually take the carts to events, but will sometimes use our pops truck "Big Poppa" or we can do a delivery or pick-up orders for events as wellThere's a minimum order of 100 pops to have the cart/truck at an event, and we travel anywhere within 2 hours of DC.

Contact us as early as possible, especially for the summer weekend dates!  We do custom orders, so bring us your ideas and we'll work with you to make it happen - we will also make custom flavors, including some spiked pops (usually with prosecco)!
