vendor spotlight: lovely bride dc
a few weeks ago, i was wandering in Georgetown and happened to notice the adorable sign of lovely dc, a bridal shop here in dc. the sweet ladies who run the shop were kind enough to allow me to come in and take some photos of their gorgeous space and answer a few questions.
as you'll see below, this shop is simply divine and is the perfect place to shop for your wedding dress!
so much pretty!
i just love how beautiful and airy the consult area is!
can you give me an overview of the process of shopping for a wedding dress at lovely?
lovely is open to brides by appointment only - each appointment is an hour long and we only make appointments with one bride at a time to provide individualized attention. each bride has an individual stylist who will help her throughout the entire process. we recommend that brides bring no more than four people to the appointment - shopping for a dress can be a very emotional and personal experience, so you should bring those people whose opinions you value most!
once a bride has purchased a dress, her stylist will help her to style her entire wedding day look.
how far in advance would you recommend that brides start looking for their dress?
typically, we recommend that brides begin shopping about one year in advance of their wedding date, and actually purchase a dress at least 7-9 months in advance. this allows enough time for the typical 3-4 fittings that will need to occur before the wedding.
what should brides bring to the appointment?
any inspiration you have, you should bring! - cutouts, pictures from magazines, pinterest boards - these will all help to identify the styles that speak to you.
appropriate undergarments and a pair of shoes similar to those you'll wear on the wedding day are helpful to bring as well. if you have your accessories picked out already, you should bring those too.
what are the trends you've noticed in wedding dresses recently?
we've seen a lot of brides wanting interesting backs to their dresses, wedding dresses with sleeves and straps are starting to become more popular, and intricate beadwork has been popular recently too!
what is your favorite part of being a wedding vendor?
we love getting to know the brides at the very beginning of the wedding planning process and watching and helping as everything comes together for their special day!
thank you to julia and alex for taking the time to chat with me! i loved wandering around your beautiful space!
if you're in the process of looking for a dress for your big day, definitely check out lovely dc!
