a-wandering wednesday: siem reap, cambodia (pt. 1)
our first impression of cambodia was of absolutely oppressive heat and humidity - we've been a lot of hot places around the world, but never felt anything quite like the weather in siem reap. once we started exploring, however, we fell into a rhythm of early morning and late evening wandering with a mid-afternoon nap or relaxation that allowed us to escape the heat and many of the crowds of tourists while exploring angkor wat.
angkor wat is magical - yes, it's overrun with tourists and is one of the most photographed wonders in the world, but there is something incredibly special about it that you can't experience unless you go there. here are images from our first day exploring angkor wat and siem reap.
the sun rises over the walls of angkor wat, painting the sky in brilliant colors.
catch up on the previous stops in our trip here: batangas, palawan, boracay, bangkok, chiang mai, the white temple, our first couple days in laos, luang prabang, the road to vang vieng, and vang vieng.
